Worldly peace must be sought after, purchased, and renewed. Getting away for a period of time, meditating on anything that promises peace, communing with nature, acquiring possessions, seeking status, withdrawing from people—all are forms of the human search for peace from the world. It can be a consuming task for an elusive goal, and worldly peace is fleeting because it depends on circumstances, and ultimately we cannot control circumstances.
